Ottawa police have launched investigations after two women reported they were sexually assaulted while using taxi services.

The first incident took place Nov. 2 at 11 p.m. when a 17-year-old girl hailed a cab in Hull. The girl was driven to Sandy Hill where she said she was assaulted by the cab driver inside the vehicle.

The victim described the man as dark-skinned with a medium build, in his 40s, with brown eyes and an unshaven face.

The second incident occurred a week later on Nov. 9 at 2:30 a.m. when a 20-year-old woman flagged a cab on Bank Street near Hunt Club. Police say the woman was then taken to a residential area near McCarthy and Walkley Roads where she was sexually assaulted in the cab.

The second suspect is said to have “slightly dark skin” and crooked teeth. He has a chubby build, is balding, and is believed to be in his 50s.

Police say because both victims hailed the cabs on the street, the fare was not registered with the taxi companies.

The names of the companies have not been released.

Anyone with information about either attack is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service at 613–236–1222, ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 613–233–8477.
