Canada is a diverse country, as can be seen from the variety of languages that people speak from coast to coast. However in most parts of the country you wouldn’t be able to tell just how diverse our linguistic landscape is, since most official signs and representations are in French, English, or both.

There needs to be a limit on group projects in university

Group projects aren’t the most effective way to teach course material for most classes, reward those students who know more people in the class, thus being able to pick better group members, and most importantly, fail to test if the individual team members actually understand the course content.

Asking employees to wear a bra is discriminatory

Ontario Human Rights Council aside, it turns out that wearing a bra isn’t even part of the dress code policy at East Side Mario’s. This means that even if it wasn’t discriminatory for the manager to ask that she wear a bra, it’s still out of their purview.

In the long run the most environmentally sustainable option is to have efficient and effective mass transit that encourages residents of Ottawa to leave their cars at home. It’s a natural journalistic response to want to attach a human face to tragedy, and use that to create empathy in viewers and readers. But that desire for a human face also has to be balanced with the knowledge that these are human beings in a dangerous and desperate situation.

U of O admin delays classes due to campus construction

While the first day of school is now set to begin Sept. 13, students whose primary faculty buildings are affected by the construction will start their courses even later, at the end of September. This delay will result in classes continuing over the winter break, with exams taking place in early January.
