U of O alum

Slam poetry or a ‘slam’ is simply the competition between fellow poets, and allows for individual or group performances. The performers and the audience resonate through each other, and vicariously experience what the poets have to share. Through a dance of words it forms a discussion or a debate where the winner is chosen by judges who are typically advocates of the art.

Although the self-described “ska-rockers” have relocated to Toronto, three of the members are originally from Aylmer, Que. and consider Ottawa their hometown. The band has toured across Canada, but play primarily in eastern Ontario, and are thrilled to be returning to one of Ottawa’s most popular live music venues, as they have played the Ottawa scene extensively.

The troupe, which is made up of Watson and three of her friends, sets all of their sketches in the 1950s. All of the women bring different education backgrounds to the table, putting interesting spins on their sketches.
