Sinkhole on Rideau-Sussex corner causes gas leak, power outage
A large sinkhole has formed just east of the Rideau Street and Sussex Drive intersection, in front of the Rideau Centre, causing evacuations of the surrounding area, power outages, and a gas leak.
Hydro Ottawa reported the power outage is in the area of Rideau, Besserer, Nicholas, Wellington and Sussex. The Rideau Centre, the Westin hotel and the Chapters bookstore have all been evacuated. There are currently no reports of injuries.
The City of Ottawa Twitter page is providing multiple updates on the road closures.
