The Fulcrum gives you six beauty trends and three major looks to try this spring

Spring is finally in the air. Gone are the days of oversized wool jackets and lugging around heavy-duty winter gear—it’s time to embrace the easy, breezy beauty of spring.

This spring, we’re embracing a diverse colour palette that will satisfy both the girly-girl and the punk-rock diva—nothing is off-limits. An array of bold and punchy hues were seen on the runway and here the Fulcrum shows you the six major spring beauty trends in three key looks.

Baby Doll Eyes and a Pink Pout

This look is for your inner girly-girl. It incorporates two big trends: blue eye shadow, and pastel lips. For a subtler look, you can try a baby blue shadow, but if you’re more daring, a cobalt blue may be right up your alley.

Pastel pink lips are also making a comeback. This beloved 60s trend compliments the 80s-inspired blue shadow perfectly, and with such bold colours you’ll want to avoid a heavily made up face. Opt for a rosy blush and wispy lashes to complete the fresh look.

Product recommendations: L’Oréal lnfallible Eye Shadow in All Night Blue at $7.96, L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint in Elude at $4.99, NYX Pinched Blush at $8.99, and Ardell Wispies Lashes at $6.50.

Glossy Skin and Flushed Cheeks:

For those of you who prefer a no-fuss, five-minute makeup routine, these are the two spring trends for you. On the runways, it was all about glossy and luminous skin, and skin care is key when trying to achieve a flawless base.

You’d first want to exfoliate and hydrate your skin with a moisturizer. Use a BB cream or lightweight foundation, then use your fingers (like we said, no-fuss) to mix it in with a liquid illuminator. The warmth of your hand ensures that the product really sinks in.

Continuing with the finger play, warm up a vivid cream blush on the back of your hand and add a touch to your cheeks and to the tip of your nose. Then apply a cream highlighter to the top of your cheekbones, cupid’s bow and inner tear duct. Finish off with spraying a skin mist. You’ll want to avoid using powder for this look to maintain the luminosity.

Product recommendations: St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Face Scrub at $4.57, MAC Strobe Cream at $12–$40, Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse BB Cream at $8.96, L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator at $13.96, N.Y.C. Blushable Crème Stick at $4.99 and NYX Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray at $10.99.

Metallic Eyes and a Loud Pout:

This is the ultimate end-of-semester party makeup look. When getting ready for your end of exams celebrations, pull out all your glitter eyeshadows and boldest lip colours. This look is far from the usual colour palette for this time of the year.

Alongside the pastels, we’re making room for hot pink, violet, neon orange and burgundy lips and glitter shadows ranging from bronze, to gold, to silver to help your eyes pop.

Product recommendations: L’Oréal lnfallible Eye Shadow in Gold Mine at $7.96, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen at $8.99 and Wet n’ Wild Megalast Lipstick in Purty Persimmon at $2.99.

Now you’re all ready to toss out your heavy moisturizers that have been helping your dry winter skin and embrace the warmer weather. Happy spring!
