Dear Ty

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Dear Di,
You know how it’s really difficult for some women to orgasm? Well, I have the exact opposite problem—whenever I ride the bus, I climax. In the amount of time it takes me to get from my apartment on Lees Avenue to the Laurier Avenue bus station, I will have reached orgasm. If I’m on the bus for any longer, I usually experience multiple orgasms. Taking the Greyhound home is out of the question. I know it doesn’t seem like the worst problem in the world, but I can’t ride buses with friends or even keep a straight face while travelling. Help me!

—When the Bus is a Rockin’…

Dear WBR,
So I guess it’s true what they say: It is possible to have too much of a good thing.  Orgasms may be the spice of life, but what’s a girl to do when the spice is overpowering the dish?
Let’s start by considering the Band-Aid solution to your pesky problem. In theory, if you never sat down on the bus again, your days of OC Transpo-induced orgasms would likely end. True as that may be, you shouldn’t have to live your life without the option of plopping down on an oh-so-comfy bus seat after a long day of class or work.
Although I can’t say for certain, there’s a chance you may be experiencing what is called Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD). Those with PGAD report climaxing sans physical stimulation, sans feeling horny. The condition was first identified in 2001 and remains somewhat shrouded in mystery, although doctors and researchers have been able to pinpoint a few medicinal treatment options.
On the other hand, perhaps what you have is not PGAD but rather a vibration-happy clitoris. Do you hit the big O while riding on planes, trains, and automobiles? Maybe your love nub is simply more easily stimulated than that of the average lady. Why not try muffling the tremor of the bus by sitting on a jacket while riding?
I suggest you put your mind at ease by making an appointment with a doctor. In the meantime, stay on your feet while on the bus—unless, of course, you’re in the mood for a few good vibrations.

Love, Di
