Fancy candy cane hot chocolate
4 cups milk
4 candy canes, crushed
3/4 cup of chocolate chips (milk or white)
Whipped cream
Heat milk in a saucepan until warm but not bubbling. Add in crushed candy canes and chocolate chips. Whisk until melted and smooth. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with additional crushed candy cane as sprinkles (optional). Serves four.

Lazy man’s candy cane hot chocolate
1 package of powdered hot chocolate
1 peppermint tea bag
1 candy cane
Prepare hot chocolate according to package instructions. Throw in the teabag. Use the candy cane as a stirring stick. Serves one.

Santagria
2 cups red wine
2 cups sweetened cranberry juice
2 cups cream soda
3 clementine oranges, peeled and diced
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and enjoy! Serves four.

Red and green punch (virgin as Mary)
2 cans of frozen mojito mix
2 litres of lemon-lime soda
3 cups of mixed berry juice
2 cups of sliced frozen strawberries
3 sliced limes
Fresh mint sprigs
In a large bowl, stir together juice, mojito mix, chilled soda, sliced limes, and frozen strawberries. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint sprigs. Serves eight.

Eggnog delight
1 glass of eggnog
1 shot of Kahlua
Nutmeg
Pour eggnog into a wine glass, spike with Kahlua, and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serves one.

Winter break shot
1/3 oz. Southern Comfort
1/3 oz. peach schnapps
1/3 oz. banana liqueur
Layer these three fruity, summery spirits in a shot glass, throw it back, and enjoy a short break from the harsh Ottawa winter. Serves one thirsty student.
