Top ten best & worst of the Gee-Gees

  1. Men’s football took down the Carleton Ravens with a solid win of 35-10 in the first Panda Game since 1998.
  2. Women’s soccer was the top ranked team in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). During the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) quarter-final, the Gees lost to the Queen’s Gaels in penalty kicks after 120 minutes of play.
  3. Women’s volleyball took away a silver medal at the OUA finals.
  4. Men’s basketball ranked second in the country all year. The Gees stole the gold medal at OUA finals, and came out of Nationals with a silver medal.
  5. Eleven Gee-Gee’s cheerleaders made the Canadian Football League (CFL) Ottawa Redblacks squad.
  6. February 8, 2014, Terry Thomas from men’s basketball scored 44 points, shooting 68 per cent from the field to break the Gees record for points during a single game.
  7. Larry Belanger retired after 13 seasons of coaching the Gee-Gees men’s baseball club. He was a respectable and patient coach, and a great teacher.
  8. Natasha Watcham-Roy represented Canada in women’s rugby at the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia.
  9. Sekou Kaba won gold in the 60-metre hurdles on March 7, in the 2014 CIS track and field championships with a record-setting pace of 7.79 seconds. He killed the previous CIS record of 7.83 by Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mark McKoy, which has stood since 1984.
  10. Simon Le Marquand signed with CFL Ottawa Redblacks after his final season with Gee-Gees.
