UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA professors and academic librarians have reached a four-year labour deal that will create dozens of new tenure-track positions and salary increases.
The settlement, which lasts until 2016, includes the creation of 60 new regular tenure-track positions and an additional librarian.
Another clause in the agreement will see 31 “limited-term replacement professors” integrated into three-year “continual renewal appointments,” with each position becoming a regular tenure-track position after the professor resigns or retires.
The agreement includes a “market catch-up” fund that will be distributed to align faculty salaries with other research-intensive universities in the province.
The settlement will see pension plan contributions increase by 0.8 per cent in each of the last two years and includes provisions addressing eye care and psychological services.
