In what has become a tough season for the Gee-Gees women’s volleyball squad, the team hit the court at Montpetit Hall on Sunday afternoon desperately looking for their first win of the season.
In their first month as members of the Gee-Gees women’s hockey team, the rookies have become indispensable to new head coach Chelsea Grills.
After dropping their first game of the season against McGill University on Nov. 3, the Gee-Gees faced the Martlets for the second time this week at Montpetit Gym on Friday night.

Despite out-shooting their opponents 35-28, the Gee-Gees’ offence could only beat Martlets goalie Tricia Deguire a single time on their way to a 3-1 loss.
The Gee-Gees have now made the rounds of the entire Réseau du sport étudiants du Québec on their way to the playoffs.
The women’s volleyball team was hoping for a better start to the second half of their season after going 5–5 in the first ten games. Instead they went 1–1 this weekend going up against McGill and the University of Sherbrooke.
The Gees faced their cross-town rivals on Jan. 13 for the third of four meetings between the teams this year. The two teams combined for 18 goals in their first two meetings, with Ottawa coming out on top both times, so a high-scoring game was to be expected.
After starting the year with a 1–3 record, the Gee-Gees were intent on righting the ship, leading off their latest match with strong play from third-years Carline Lemay and Sabrina Roy.
Strong early offensive pressure has been the key to many victories for the Gees team, and nothing changed against the Ravens.
