The Fulcrum is the University of Ottawa’s independent English-language student newspaper. For nearly 80 years, we have provided students and members of the U of O community with the news that matters to them, ranging from groundbreaking research, to big wins by our sports teams, and most importantly, holding our student leaders and university administration to account.

Most recently, during the 2018-19 academic year, we exposed major financial scandals by elected student leaders, resulting in the formation of a new student government. Through our hard work, we were honoured to be named Student Publication of the Year at NASH, the annual Canadian student journalism conference.

However, we cannot do this work alone. As a non-profit organization, we rely on external funding, and recent cuts to university services by the Ontario government has put our finances in a precarious situation.

You can help us continue the important work we do to hold the powerful to account and bring students the news they need.

If you’ve felt that we’ve made a difference at the University of Ottawa, please share, donate, and spread the word.
