About the Fulcrum
The Fulcrum is the University of Ottawa’s independent English-language student newspaper. Established in 1942, the Fulcrum is published on Thursdays during the Fall and Winter semesters.
The Fulcrum’s website, www.thefulcrum.ca, receives upwards of 30,000 page views per month.

Why target students?
University students represent the most coveted age demographic: 18-24 year olds. The student population is unique: students are situated in a small geographical area, and the campus is highly populated. As an age group the student demographic is almost undiluted. Students are key to numerous markets, from fashion to fast food, technology to entertainment. Students also play a major role in supporting their local neighbourhood economy. They are also highly brand loyal.
Why campus media?
Campus media offers a highly targeted audience with less clutter than other media. When comparing campus media to other daily newspapers by CPM (cost per mille) and age range, studies have shown that campus media is the more affordable option, with low-to-no spillage, and an exceptionally low ad-to-content ratio. While advertisers might spend a bit more per ad, the dollars go farther since the ad reaches only your target market and you have less noise coming from competitors.
