A group of 34 current and retired University of Ottawa professors have signed a letter to express their disagreement with the University’s treatment of professor Verushka Lieutenant-Duval.
The University of Ottawa’s administration is now meeting two of the eight student demands outlined in an open letter on campus racism released last month, according to University of Ottawa Students’ Union executives: representation and consultation.
With an open letter to president Jacques Frémont, over 100 professors and librarians at the U of O have joined the chorus of voices demanding further action in the wake of the two carding incidents that have taken place on campus in the past four months.
The UOSU, BSLA, OPIRG, CUPE 2626, WISE and 16 student governments say the U of O ‘fails to address systemic racism in a meaningful way’ and calls on U of O president Jacques Frémont to implement eight demands for action.
The letter highlights the signatories’ concerns that include the availability of the meeting minutes, bylaws, policies, and financial information.
