You really can’t go far off campus without seeing a statue of MacDonald—not to mention that there’s a pub and a parkway named after him too.
Considering Macdonald’s policies on Indigenous people, it’s likely he wouldn’t be too pleased about sharing a space with someone who actually has a Blackfoot name.
Jan. 11 marked the 200th birthday of Sir John A. MacDonald, long regarded as the leading father of Confederation. That said, the man is perhaps more controversial these days than the majority of today’s world leaders.
