New mentorship program introduced to help students shape their theatre skills.
Sunday’s show featured a variety of designs ranging from the practical to the quirky. Highlights included glittery ensembles by Amira & Nasreen and Sabrina Oxford’s fairytale-esque capes.
Started by a handful of fine arts graduates from the University of Ottawa in 1991, this artist co-op has since taken over the local art scene for decades now.
OUK was founded by Vetrov in 2008 and has performed at numerous festivals around North America. Vetrov began practicing theatre when she was seven years old living in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and she later attended the U of O for degrees in theatre and theatre directing.
The main thing Abebe hopes students take away from Compassionate Conversations is a cultivated sense of compassion for others, and the realization that everyone is struggling on some level, whether they express it outwardly or not.
The semi-annual event will be taking place on Nov. 8 at the Shaw Centre from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show will feature a variety of different vintage vendors from Hamilton’s Vintage Soul Geek to Ottawa’s REBEL/RECLUSE Vintage Clothing, owned by University of Ottawa alumnus Marley McRae.
The narrative style of The Gospel Truth is not its only noteworthy feature. The novel is also unique in its writing style, with the entire novel written in free verse. The poetic style is much more emotional and free flowing than prose, which makes it undoubtedly unique for children’s literature.
The exhibit spans two rooms. In the first is an array of multimedia pieces—photographs, videos, sculptures, and acquired objects. One installment, entitled Reliquarium, is a collection of ninety objects spanning from pressed flowers, to written excerpts, to blood samples.
Monnet has been showing films at the imagineNATIVE festival since 2009. As the world’s largest Indigenous film festival, imagineNATIVE brings together Indigenous people from all over the world to share their work in film, video, radio, and new media.
World Away was filmed and created in Toronto, and follows a young woman named Quinn who participates in an experimental one-way trip to Mars. The web series follows her as she says goodbye to people close to her and confronts their contrasting opinions on her trip, which inevitably will end her life on Earth.
