The 2018-19 season is fast approaching, and the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees have a solid deck of talent that will be on display.
Stephen Evans, of the Gee-Gees track team, provided a great performance to finish off this athletics season for the Garnet and Grey, with a great come-from-behind run to finish just off the top of the podium.
The University of Ottawa track and field team participated in the U Sports National Championship from March 8-10, with 12 competing athletes.
Both competitions saw several medals awarded to the Gee-Gees, but no first-place finish for the team on the nation’s biggest stage.
The team was able to collect a total of 124 points in the women’s event, for the 13th place amongst other universities, while the men, who finished 11th, were able to collect 186 points.

The Gee-Gees women’s rugby team have won the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) championship for the fourth year in a row, defeating the University of Laval in a hardfought game.
The Gees looked out of sorts all game, and a major blowout was the end result. When the last buzzer mercifully sounded the final score read an embarrassing 80–41.
After back-to-back victories against Lakehead University, the Gees came out and played a solid 60 minutes against a struggling Laurentian team to propel their record in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference to 11–7–3.
After a stunning, undefeated run to the national final, the Gee-Gees women’s rugby team fell just short of their goal, returning to Ottawa with a silver medal and the pride of the entire school.
It was a hard-fought battle, but the Gee-Gees prevailed, proving why they’re the best team in their conference and perhaps the nation.
The depleted and demoralized Garnet and Grey squad was unable to get any sort of momentum.
