Many undergraduate students possess a voracious need to learn. They devour books, sit on the edge of our seats during interesting lectures — and have a need to channel this need into research. But how?

“Many students who complete UROP go on to secure research contracts in their fields of study. Or, their UROP research propels them into great co-ops or graduate programs,” said Julie Vaillancourt, a UROP coordinator.
University of Ottawa researchers Kimberly Mitchell and Vance Trudeau have discovered a new hormone in zebrafish that could help combat human infertility. The researchers were accompanied by a group of students who observed Zebrafish mating patterns and were instrumental in completing the project.
