Where to find it: Chez Lucien
This beer is a hidden gem, just like the bar I found it at.
It’s a simple formula — barley, hops, yeast, and water — with a simple, smooth taste, not dissimilar to your common Keith’s or Canadian, but this beer just does it right. It doesn’t have preservatives, it doesn’t leave you with a headache, and as cliché as this sounds, it tastes fresh, even energetic. I highly recommend it for beer drinkers who don’t want to feel as if they just ate an entire turkey dinner after a couple pints or who want to enjoy a mid-afternoon beer before getting back to studying.
As for Chez Lucien, it has the atmosphere of a cozy, World War II era Parisian bar — think of the flashback scene in Casablanca in which Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman’s characters first fell in love. I dare you not to be charmed.
