The University of Ottawa Students’ Union (UOSU) hosted a town hall on March 4 in part to address questions about the union’s upcoming election and encourage students to run for positions in student government.

“The university is aware of the petition and is looking into the matter,” says U of O manager of media relations, Isabelle Mailloux-Pulkinghorn.
“The very presence of more Black folk validates the [new President’s Action Committee for an Anti-Racist and Inclusive Campus] and validates Frémont’s inaction. Any validation for the University of Ottawa to move forward with the committee is a step against systemic change for anti-Black racism at the University of Ottawa,” said Jamal Koulmiye-Boyce.
The University of Ottawa Students’ Union (UOSU) held its first online Fall General Assembly (FGA) on Thursday night over Zoom. The event was originally planned to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. but lasted over seven hours ending at 2 a.m.
Jason Seguya was elected the University of Ottawa Students’ Union’s (UOSU) equity commissioner on Wednesday night along with ten new students who will serve on the UOSU’s Board of the Directors.

Two University of Ottawa students, Eve Staszczyszyn and Livia Han have worked with students from the University of Waterloo BETS Program and the Queen’s Center for Advanced Computing to develop Wellness World; a portal aimed to combat the mental health crisis centered around the U of O community.
A variety of activities, speeches and games helped the UOSU and the University of Ottawa student body fundraise close to $4,000 dollars to help raise awareness for cystic fibrosis. Shinerama month continues throughout September.
