In response to sexual harassment allegations, former vp takes legal action
According to LeDroit, Yaneric Bisaillon is suing Arezoo Najibzadeh and the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) for $1.26 million dollars.
On Nov. 5, the International, Political, and Policy Studies Student Association (IPPSSA) made a public Facebook statement about sexual harassment allegations involving one of their executive members. Bisaillon resigned, posting his own Facebook message stating he’d made an inappropriate statement intended in jest, and apologized to the University of Ottawa community.
Najibzadeh said that during a 101 Week event Bisaillon said to her: “I will put my dick in your mouth and choke you on my bed.”
On Nov. 21, a suit was filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice for $1.26 million, according to LeDroit.
LeDroit reported that Bisaillon is looking for $1 million for loss of future revenue, $150,000 for damages, $10,000 for mental anguish, and $100,000 for punitive damages and aggravated damages.
Bisaillon is also looking to reclaim his position as vice-president of university affairs of IPPSSA.
