$10,000 worth of laptops were stolen over the nine-day period

Between Sept. 19 and 27, two individuals gained access to multiple buildings at the University of Ottawa. Through the break and enter incidents, the individuals stole $10,000 worth of laptops.

On Monday, Oct. 1, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) apprehended one Sami Fetoui, a 20 year-old from the Ottawa area. He has been charged with breaking and entering.

On Friday, Oct. 5 the OPS had released a statement which sought the public’s assistance to identify and apprehend the second suspect. However, as of Oct. 15, the OPS confirmed to the Fulcrum that a second individual had been apprehended but not yet charged.

According to the OPS, at this time the investigators are finalizing the information which will head to the courts.

The U of O stated that they are “collaborating” with the OPS. In an email to the Fulcrum, Isabelle Mailloux-Pulkinghorn, interim manager at the U of O’s Media Relations, said “the safety and wellbeing of (U of O) students is (the U of O’s) number one priority.”
