After leading from the second quarter, the Gee-Gees failed to seal the deal and obtain a win this weekend.

After the Badgers defeated the Gee-Gees women’s basketball team, the men’s team failed to obtain a different result, as they were defeated by Brock 69-66.

The points recorded, which were Brock free throws,  showed a slow start and foreshadowed that a game was about to be played off the backboard, with the rebound possession and speed declaring the winner.

The first quarter was tough on the garnet and grey, with the Badgers leading with 14 points over Ottawa’s nine. With Brock’s bench scoring eight points, concealing any of the Gee-Gees efforts, the second quarter needed to be miraculously better.

The U of O team seemed to have heard the starting whistle a quarter late because they finally showed up to the game. Leading men Ankit Choudhary and Justin Ndjock-Tadjore provided eight points each, while Ndjock-Tadjore showed off his three-pointer skills by scoring two of them this quarter.

The Badgers finished with 15 points scored and struggled to maintain their scoreboard lead, ending the half with the Gee-Gees up top 35-29.

The third quarter was deceivingly good for the garnet and grey team. They scored 21 points, four of which were three-pointers from most starters, while the others resulted from pure team skill and cohesive play, leading 56-44.

However, the fourth quarter came around, and the Gee-Gees only managed to score 10 points, stepping down from the scoreboard to the Badgers’ 25 points, ending the game in defeat with a 69-66 score.

Ndjock-Tadjore had an amazing game, scoring 19 points for the Gee-Gees and creating insane plays for them to come through; sadly, this game was decided in the final quarter. However, just like the Women’s team, they tuned up their plays and their errors and faced Algoma this Sunday, winning by almost double the points in a final score of 100-52.

Catch their next game against McMaster this Friday at 8 pm in Monpetit Hall following the women’s face, which starts at 6:00 p.m.
