Film festivals: hit or miss?
The Ottawa Canadian Film Festival is running Nov. 3–5 at the ByTowne Cinema at 325 Rideau St.
This year, there are tons of fun and cultural activities that you can partake in—both inside and outside—to make the season great. So, grab a toque and brace yourself for five of the Fulcrum’s top activities for you in this wintry wonderland.
This is why on April 6 OCTEVAW, who have worked with professors and done guest lectures at the University of Ottawa in the past, held a screening of the documentary film, The Mask You Live In, to raise money for their public awareness campaign catered to men, MANifest Change, at the ByTowne Cinema.
Directed and written by Antonio Agugliaro, Gabriele del Grande, and Khaled Soliman al Nassiry, On the Bride’s Side tells the story of five refugees who travel to Sweden from Syria in search of a new beginning. The film will be screened at the ByTowne Cinema on Jan. 28 by One World Film Festival (OWFF) and One World Arts, followed by a discussion on the war in Syria and refugee support.
Beginning in 1976, the OIAF is North America’s largest animation festival and one of the oldest in the world. The festival features everything from film screenings to workshops and masterclasses with world-renowned animators.
