The union representing support and administrative staff at the U of O says their bargaining unit met with the university administration after 84 per cent of their members voted in favour of a strike mandate last month, but a tentative collective agreement was not reached.
The agreement will now be presented to group of OLBI part-time professors for ratification
Group of part-time professors in the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute is asking for pay increases, job security and benefits.
In the end, there just isn’t enough reason to support large increases in the minimum wage. Should there be a minimum wage? Yes. A reasonably high minimum wage? Also yes. But $15 an hour? No.
