The University of Ottawa’s Board of Governors adopted the 2015-16 budget which included a three per cent average tuition hike for undergraduate and graduate students for the tenth consecutive year, at a meeting in May.

OCTranspo and the Société de Transport de l’Outaouais (STO), have hammered out a deal that will let Gatineau-based students who study in Ottawa purchase the U-Pass. The new agreement applies to students at the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, St Paul’s University, and Algonquin College, and will be in effect in September.

The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) ratified Romeo Ahimakin as the vice-president of services and communications for the 2015-16 year at the April 8 meeting of the Board of Administration (BOA), but several other candidates are questioning the process.

The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) revealed at last week’s general assembly that the rape culture workshops that federated bodies were required to undergo earlier in the year didn’t end up happening because of logistical issues.

The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) will host its second general assembly (GA) on March 24, with six motions to be debated at the Shaw Centre. The cost of room rental, translating services, and technical equipment for the GA adds up to almost $5,000.

Thanks to the tireless work of student activists, the University of Ottawa became the first university in Ontario to put a complete and immediate stop to the sale of bottled water on its campuses in 2010.

Each year students are accused of being apathetic. Voter turnout was just over 10 per cent this year, about the same as last year. Many students appear to be happy to just pay their fees and go to class—they don’t care how their money is managed.
