Where to find it: Clocktower Brew Pub in the ByWard Market (also in Westboro and the Glebe)
This beer is like Dan Mangan. I’m really happy it exists and that people support it, but despite my efforts, I cannot help finding the overall product a little lacking.
The prospect of finding a solid, local, fruity wheat beer gets me every time I go to this refreshing but expensive bar. I always leave wishing I had ordered anything else.
The Raspberry Wheat Ale doesn’t really taste like raspberries at all. Served with a slice of lemon, the beer tastes more like a standard citrus wheat beer, but ends with a bad, rotten — and apparently raspberry-flavoured — aftertaste.
I recommend ditching this one in favour of any of the Clocktower’s seasonal offerings, or to just go home and put on a Bon Iver album.
