Scott to assume new role March 4, 2024

Dec. 20 — Canada’s Minister of National Defence, Bill Blair announced the appointment of Jill Scott to principal of the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC). Scott currently serves as the University of Ottawa’s Provost and Vice-president of Academic Affairs; she began a five-year term in the role on Sept. 1, 2019. Before this, she served as the inaugural vice provost of teaching and learning for Queens University from 2013-2019.

In her years at the U of O Scott earned one of the highest salaries at the institution, appearing on Ontario’s sunshine list consistently.

Her role with RMC will begin March 4, 2024.

“I look forward to working with Dr. Scott as we continue to accomplish our mission as the modern, diverse institution it must be to educate, train, and develop the future leaders of the Canadian Armed Forces.” said Brigadier-General Pascal Godbout, RMC Vice-Chancellor.

Once in the new role with the RMC Scott will be responsible for the academic policy of the military college and representing the school domestically and abroad. As principal of the school, Scott will be a member of RMC’s Senate and chair the Deans’ Council, faculty council, and faculty board.

RMC’s education is modeled on four pillars: Academic, Military, Physical fitness, and Bilingualism.
