The women’s volleyball team reeled from their previous loss by categorically denying the Lakehead University Thunderwolves every opportunity to win.  The Gee-Gees took home the victory 3–0 by not allowing rallies to last longer than they needed to.  The victory brings their nearly impeccable record to 13–3 for the season.  The Gees have also climbed the rankings to seventh place on the Canadian Interuniversity Sports’ (CIS) boards.

The team only has three games left in the season, two of which are against the University of Toronto and Ryerson, both top contenders in the Ontario University Athletics east division — both sitting on Ottawa’s heels.

The night was filled with aggressive play, a whomping 16 services aces, and an evenly distributed offence led by CIS’ first-ranked points-per-set fourth-year Myriam English.  Despite struggling against both Ryerson and Toronto, the team appears to be regaining its previous form while relying a little more on its rookie players.  Hopefully this win will give the Gees the confidence they need heading into their next two games.

The Gee-Gees will be facing off against Ryerson next, on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. in Montpetit.
