Gee-Gees remain unbeaten as playoffs approach

The Gee-Gees have now made the rounds of the entire Réseau du sport étudiants du Québec (RSEQ) on their way to the playoffs.

The U of O women’s rugby squad claimed two more victories on Oct. 10 and 14, asserting their dominance once again, this time over the McGill Martlets and Concordia Stingers, respectively.

With the wins, they remain unbeaten this season, and keep their number-one ranking in all of U Sports.

The first match versus the Stingers on Oct. 10 would be the Gee-Gees’ second-largest win of the season, just behind their 113-0 win two days prior versus the Bishop’s Gaiters.

Emily Gray led the U of O in scoring once again with a try and six conversions, while Ellen Murphy and Michaela Haley also scored two tries.

All in all, the ball was spread around in this one, with nine different players scoring for the Gee-Gees as they powered their way to the 78-5 win.

In their second game on the road Oct. 14 versus the Martlets, the Garnet and Grey did not stop the momentum.

In this one, Emily Babcock scored three tries, while Maya Montiel and Katie Geddes contributed with two each, and six Gee-Gees scored in total.

They rolled to the 70-0 win and a 7-0 record, defeating every single team from the RSEQ handily.

The Gee-Gees will now move on to the playoffs versus the University of Sherbrooke at home on Oct. 19. Grab tickets here.
