The play is inspired by Milner’s experience with his mother’s decision to pursue assisted suicide after getting a lung infection at 94-years-old that left her with no chance of recovery. After telling Milner about her decision, it sent him on a journey to learn about death and assisted suicide. When she passed away, he decided to write a play about his experience.
If disability rights advocates wish to enlighten their audience about the plight of the vulnerable, perhaps they should rely more on scientific studies and less on emotional pleas.
Life is about living each day to the fullest. Being able to wake up in the morning knowing that today is a new day with things to look forward to. Life is not about the suffering and excruciating pain that each new moment will bring.
