An idea born from outdoor enthusiasts to provide public transportation to Ontario’s parks will now include a route from Ottawa to Algonquin Provincial Park.

Parkbus was launched in 2010 and provides nature lovers with an affordable and environmentally conscious way to get from their home to their favourite park.

The 2013 season kicks off May 18 with a tourism route linking Toronto to Manitoulin Island— the largest fresh-water island in the world— via the MS Chi-Cheemaun ferry. The Toronto-Bruce Peninsula-Manitoulin Island route includes destinations like Lion’s Head Provincial Nature Reserve, Bruce Peninsula National Park, and the municipality of Tobermory.

On June 21, for the first time ever, Ottawa will be linked by transit to Algonquin Park. The route includes scheduled stops where visitors can camp, picnic, and paddle at their leisure. Round-trip tickets range in price from $35 to $75 and will be available to purchase starting March 25.
