Indie singer-songwriter Béatrice Martin, more commonly known by her stage name Coeur de pirate, is a celebrated Montreal-based artist with an impressive way of connecting to her fans through movement and melodic music. As a recognized Francophone musician, she effortlessly expresses herself through both national languages of Canada, drawing in Anglophone listeners to experience French music in ways they never have before.
Although Green is best recognized for progressions in acoustic power chords, especially on his 2008 album Bring Me Your Love. However his newest work shows a distinct change of pace in sound. Where there was once a soft linear flow of songs, there is now a forte that speaks to the audience in a transformed, sharp, bluesy thundering of songs, but is still directed by lofty introspection from beginning to end.
Claude’s blog will culminate photos with short reflective stories as told by citizens of Ottawa to introduce the lives and journeys of individuals within the community. “Even the most benign realities can be fascinating, and I would like to create my own twist to them,” said Claude.
Yours, Dreamily, streams a distorted flow of sound that can feel melancholy and fleeting at times, but captures moments of revelation. With an assortment of sounds throughout the album, grimy guitar solos and the familiar harsh tones of the Black Keys can be heard, especially in “The Arc”.
The free event was facilitated by Canadian Film Institute (CFI) staff, active supporters and sponsors, local embassy partners, Canadian filmmakers and actors, alumni of Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, and local film fans.
The club’s mission is to introduce “a sense of what extra-curricular life is truly like at uOttawa.” said the club’s president, Justin Patrick.
