“The salary adjustment would bring the executive salary from around $31,000 to about $34,000 on the condition executives complete several accountability goals throughout the year, like monthly reports and timesheets. This is not a drastic increase,” said the student union’s president Tim Gulliver.
“I received the news that I received a job offer as a TA and my god was I happy … I am about to cross a new bridge to a new life that I am excited about. Sad and scared for sure, but relieved. Relieved I am leaving the Union in the most amazing hands,” El Himri wrote in an email explaining the reason for her resignation.
“Nour is absolutely right to state that a toxic workplace environment, misogyny and Islamophobia should not be tolerated within any workplace, let alone within the UOSU,” wrote the UOSU executive committee in response to the allegations in Ines Nour El Huda’s resignation letter.
There are 15 positions open. Nomination period is from Oct. 12 to Oct. 27 with voting from Nov. 1 to Nov. 7.

At least five spots on the BOD will remain vacant following the vote.
The University of Ottawa Students’ Union has revealed the key dates of its fall byelection. Voting will run from Nov. 6-8, with one spot on the executive committee and nine seats on the Board of Directors up for grabs. An executive candidates debate is set for Nov. 4.
Taylor Davidson, vice-president of finance of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) resigned from her post at a Board of Administration meeting on Sept. 20. This is the second resignation coming from the executive this year.
