The University of Ottawa Department of Theatre’s production of Princess Ivona tells the story of a group of courtiers who have their public personas brought into question through the presence of one girl who refuses to play along.

Students were caught off guard on the morning of Feb. 12 when they went to pick up their weekly copy of La Rotonde and found newsstands empty.

Escape by watching A Royal Affair at the ByTowne Cinema at 4 p.m. It’s a costume drama that tells the true story of a physician who brought the Enlightenment’s values of reason over blind religion to Denmark in the 18th century. History comes to life on screen, plus there’s some bodice-ripping sex.

Holly and Pete Massie are founding members of the Stairwell Carollers, an a cappella choir based in Ottawa that was formed in Marchand Residence way back in 1977. As Holly puts it, the choir wouldn’t have existed had it not been for the University of Ottawa.

Walking around campus this year, you might notice there are a lot of new options for where to eat. Bento Sushi moved out of the university centre (UCU) cafeteria and is now where the Upper Crust used to be, there is a new food truck under the Thompson- Fauteux overpass and the Faculty of Social Sciences building will soon be getting a bakery.

The University of Ottawa and its faculty association, the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa (APUO), reached a collective agreement Sept. 20, after 16 months of negotiations. Talks for the agreement began in April of 2011.

In a recent report by the Higher Education Strategy Associates (HESA), the University of Ottawa ranked fourth in research in the science and engineering faculties, and 20th in social sciences and humanities.
