Twice every school year, the Fulcrum gives out Cavalry Awards for the best Gee-Gee athletics have to offer.

The game was even more important for the Gee-Gees as they said goodbye to their star seniors—Cynthia Leblanc, Julia Francki, and Pilar Khoury along with role players Mélissa Pesant, and Elisabeth Wong.
After playing staunch defence for the final 15 minutes, the Gees secured their trip to the OUA final four.
The close 2-1 victory secured a playoff berth for the Gees, as they currently sit atop the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division with just three regular season games to go.
The Gees are still undefeated in the 2015 season, topping the OUA East with an impressive 9-0-3 record.
The seemingly unstoppable Gee-Gees women’s rugby team extended their undefeated season with a dominant 33-7 win over conference contender Université de Montréal Carabins.
The lack of scoring didn’t mean there were a lack of opportunities, in fact the fast-paced match saw no end in offensive plays for both teams. However, solid defence and great performances from both goalkeepers kept the ball out of the nets.
Fear not, there are still some great competitive sports teams with later tryouts and registrations that you can join!
The Gee-Gees were playing somewhat hobbled, with multiple injuries stemming from last year’s lengthy playoff run. Talent still exists in this Gee-Gees squad, but it’ll take time for this year’s team to click.
Multiple current and former U of O athletes scorned the idea of having a relaxing summer, instead choosing to take an opportunity to represent Canada on the world’s stage.

“Our defence is getting better and our forwards are clicking, and definitely winning helps the team morale,” said Francki.
You’re going to get knocked down, but you just have to get back up and keep pushing forward. It might take you six years to finish your undergrad degree, but you just got to get up and keep going.
When Cynthia Leblanc was named a first-team Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) All-Star at the end of the last school year, she was frustrated.
After a disappointing end of the season last year when they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Queen’s Gaels in penalty kicks, the Gee-Gees women’s soccer team is off to a good start.
For me and countless other like-minded enthusiasts, the beginning of the sports schedule means one thing: the return of soccer.
Still, this summer I felt the magic of the World Cup everywhere I went. The same broadcasters of 2010 were now excited for the game coverage, and viewers could watch more matches and other content than ever before.

The Gee-Gee women’s soccer team brought the heat to the pitch Sept. 15 against the Trent University Excalibur. A crowd of almost 200 was there to support the team during an 11–0 blowout.
