Thinking back, my Frosh week was a total blur of activities and meeting people, so much so that presenting it in a long form simply wouldn’t do it any justice.

At the University of Ottawa, varsity tryouts—where any student can show up in the hopes of making the final roster—are in large part declining in popularity and effectiveness.

Last month the chairperson of the CRC Program published an open letter on behalf of the program’s steering committee, which urged university presidents in the program to make a “concerted effort to address the under representation of the four designated groups (women, Aboriginal Peoples, persons with disabilities and visible minorities) in nominations for Canada Research Chair positions.”

The term culture is in no way controversial; it is just a word that denotes customs, traditions, and beliefs held by a sub-population. However, when someone specifies “rape culture,” many become defensive or simply incredulous, even to the point of denying its existence.
